For 2025 Loose Wet Watercolor Painting - Instructor Kathleen Murray
Using flowers as our muse we will create multiple small floral studies. I’ll supply a range of cut flowers. If there is a flower you particularly want to work with, please feel free to bring it.
Watercolor painting is a partnership between pigment and water. The water is in charge and when allowed to be so, the result is magic. Watercolor has kind of a bad reputation as either “no big deal” or “too hard to do”. Neither is true. When the science is understood, the results are joyful.
Plan to relax and enjoy the magic of spontaneous shapes and colors.
All materials will be provided
Kathleen Murray’s adventure as a watercolor painter is a direct result of reinventing herself after retirement. With the instruction and encouragement of the Colorado Springs Arts community, she found fulfillment and success exhibiting and marketing her art. She remains a signature member of the Pikes Peak and Southern Colorado Watercolor Societies
A storyteller at heart, Kathleen’s painting style may be described as expressive realism. She is continually exploring various experimental techniques to further express her point of view.
The newest chapter in Kathleen's Grand Adventure involved a move from the forests and mountains of Colorado to the deserts and mountains of California. Different colors; different skies; and different air. Not to mention a new community of talented artists Kathleen's new home is a former church which is gradually becoming a gallery and teaching space.
